BB Pesta 2K18 Experince

Me and my friends from the 8th Penang Company participated the BB Pesta at Universiti Putra Malaysia(UPM).It lasted around 5 days during the month of August. 

What is pesta?

BB Pesta is a fun, thrilling, team spirit building kind of special event for us,the Boy’s Brigade.BB Pesta is held every 2 years.BB Pesta was first held during 1966 when England first won the world cup.Now the latest one I’ve participated was during 2018, when Malaysia set a new world record of Tun Dr.Mahathir becoming prime minister for the second time.

When we arrived,we were greeted by a member of the BB Pesta committee.We were shown to our dorms which only had girl lavatories,but the corporals said it was okay to use since the dorm had no boy toilets.I bunked with my friend at the last room on the highest floor.On the first day,we attended the opening ceremony of BB Pesta and the closing ceremony of BB Junior Pesta. Climate Change and Environment and witness by Prof Datin Dr Aini, Vice Chancellor of UPM,welcoming all companies of Malaysia to BB Pesta Beyond 2018.We even had companies from Singapore,Indonesia and Hong Kong to join us.After the opening ceremony begun the dance competition.We spent the night cheering for each dance team that performed on stage.Especially when it was my company’s turn,we cheered like mad,which left most of us with sore throats.But that didn’t stop us from screaming and cheering crazily once we gotten champion for the dance competition.

Then came the second day,the same thing happened, we ,the 8^th Penang Company got number one during the drill competition.One of our branch ,SMK Ayer Itam had gotten best commander as well.In the afternoon,      the singing competition was held.All 10 participating companies sang with sweat and tears,hoping to grasp number one.Sadly,we the 8^th Penang Company did not come out number one once again as we lost to 1^st Johor Bahru company,but we did come out as 2^nd place though.

Day 3,finally fun day came!All the pesta participants were divided into four groups:

Photon(fire),Hydro(water),Aero(air) and Terra(earth).

Platoon Photon and Hydro were arranged to play the water obstacles first, whereas Platoon Aero and Terra were supposed to play physical games.After lunch, all four platoons switched games. I would personally say that water games were fun and wet while physical games were painful and dirty,but it we had fun anyway.

On the fourth day, the whole pesta went on an outing, a visit of Kuala Lumpur’s famous destinations with our own squadrons. From Dataran Merdeka,my group straight away went towards KL Tower. On the way,we passed a church,took some pictures with clay-made kampung boy characters and had lunch at the canopy walk.We finally reached KL Tower just to take a picture. We walked back to an LRT station and took it to our rendovous(ron-dei-vu) point. It was fun and tiring at the same time, I especially liked the part when we took group photos.Since it was the last day,it was also the closing ceremony of BB Pesta Beyond.That night was one night I could never forget thanks to my company’s insane screaming and cheering as the head committee of pesta announced as the overall BB Pesta Champion.Most of our eardrums were already bleeding from the high pitch noise we were producing.

Of course all good things have to come to an end.

Finally came the day we left the school grounds and back to our own home.I did felt a sense of not wanting to leave but I had no choice.My company did stop at One Utama first before we actually headed home.As we headed home,I thought we left no regrets, memories made,photos taken.
